Access to the phone numbers of 419 million users on Facebook

A new scandal has hit Facebook after leaking phone number data to 419 million users on a web server, which in turn contains data for about 133 million users in the United States, 18 million users from the United Kingdom, and about 50 million users from Vietnam.

It cannot be said that the process is a data breach, because the data was on a server without being briefly protected by a password.

The easily accessible database includes each person's username and the phone number associated with the account on the social network.

Facebook used to show users' phone numbers to the public previously to facilitate communication with users, but decided to cancel it after successive scandals over the past year, most notably the Cambridge Analytica scandal as it seeks to maintain the privacy of users as it says.

TechCrunch posted details about the process after the GDI Foundation team in contact with the site.

The site then contacted the hosting company, the owner of the server to immediately stop appearing on the Internet to avoid any further problems.

This is probably unintended by Facebook itself, but it certainly puts millions of users' privacy at risk.
