If you use a Xiaomi smartphone, you probably have to adopt an external browser that differs from the official browser built into it, because the company collects too much data on its users even with the use of the hidden browsing mode.

Security researchers have revealed that the Mi Browser, in its regular and improved version, collects data on all websites visited by the user, including searches on search engines, even those that are privacy-sensitive, such as DuckDuckGo.

Also, Xiaomi is interested in knowing the news that users read within the news stream feature, and not only does what he does on the Internet, but even within the device itself, such as open folders and the screens within which it is moved in the settings menu.

The danger is not only by collecting that data, but also by sending it to servers located in Russia and Singapore through domain addresses owned by China, so that part of the data was sent to servers rented by Xiaomi from Alibaba.

Security researcher Gabi Cirlig discovered these operations while using his Redmi Note 8, but upon reviewing the operating system for other phones such as Xiaomi MI 10, Xiaomi Redmi K20, Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 also found its presence, and it is likely to be found in more of the company's phones.

For her part, Xiaomi denied those allegations and explained that all the data is transferred in an encrypted and anonymous manner, but the security researcher was able to decrypt the data, as well as publish a video that proves the company’s lie.

It is mentioned that the main Xiaomi browser comes pre-loaded in the company's phones, and is available on Google Play and has 15 million downloads.
